- <p> DIED. Douglas Edwards, 73, pioneer anchorman-commentator of
- broadcast journalism; in Sarasota, Fla. A soft-spoken, earnest
- Oklahoman, Edwards worked at CBS as both a radio and television
- personality from 1942 until 1988. He joined Edward R. Murrow's
- London staff late in World War II and, in 1948, achieved
- stardom with a nightly broadcast called Douglas Edwards with
- the News.
